This conference will be an opportunity for Arabic scholars based in Italy to exchange with colleagues from other countries, to renew old academic bonds and create new ones. It will allow us to present our work, discuss and lay the bases for the progress of the discipline(s) and for future scientific collaborations. The themes of the conference will be the following:

• dialectology / diatopic variation
• linguistic variation (diastratic, diaphasic, diamesic)
• diachronic variation / historical dialectology
• Arabophone media: uses, representations and language commodification
• linguistic ideologies (e.g. epilinguistic discourses, linguistic identities, etc.)
• language contact (Arabic and e.g. Amazigh, sub-saharian languages, Persian, Turkish, Aramaic, etc.)
• intermediate or mixed Arabic varieties
• language policies
