"In conversation with globalization" | 6th edition | Trends, Transitions, Transformations

An innovative integrative teaching program, a unique international and intercultural opportunity for our LMCCI and PMTS students
Participants

In Conversation with Globalization is an innovative international integrative teaching program, organized in collaboration with Universität Stuttgart (Germany), St. Xavier's College of the University of Mumbai (India) and Stellenbosch University (South Africa), which offers invaluable multidisciplinary and multicultural learning opportunities.

The program was created ten years ago by an international consortium of prestigious partner universities, and for the past six years UniBg has been a direct protagonist of its success, thanks to the involvement of five students - selected from the LMCCI and PMTS MA Courses - who will have the posssibility to participate in the course and Project week.

During the online part of the course, participants from the universities of Bergamo, Stuttgart, Stellenbosch and the St. Xavier's College will study and learn together in a virtual classroom. They will work individually and in international groups. The course will conclude with a international Project Week in Mumbai, India (to be attended in person), 8-15 February 2025.

The program offers participants the opportunity to obtain an Open Badge certificate, stating their constructive participation to the program, shared by the referents of the various partner sites, and detailing the activities carried out during the program (online course and Project Week).

For more information you can contact the coordinator, Prof. Dorothee Hellerdorothee.heller@unibg.it.

The 2024-2025 edition focuses on the effects of globalization in an increasingly interconnected world. The course will address various aspects of globalization and explore some of the challenges for societies in a new phase of globalization marked by multifaceted developments. In our interdisciplinary course, we will address and try to distinguish between developments that are current trends, complex transitions, and deep-reaching transformations. Discussions will be organized around Asia (focus on India), Africa (focus on South Africa) and Europe (focus on Germany and Italy). Course topics will include current debates in politics, economy, society, arts and literature.

The program regularly includes important scholarly and engagement events, such as the talk with Tushar Gandhi, great-grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, which took place in the 2022-2023 edition.

Among the highlights of the 2024-2025 Project Week is the Stuttgart Meets Mumbai Cultural Festival, scheduled for 7-8 February, 2025.
