International opportunities

The Department of Foreign Languages, Literatures and Cultures offers a wide range of possibilities for students interested in perfecting their languages abroad, broadening their cultural horizons, acquiring personal autonomy or undertaking internships outside their home country:

  • study stays under the Erasmus+ Programme and similar projects
  • internships abroad
  • double degrees
  • scholarships for short stays abroad for the purpose of writing a second cycle degree dissertation

In fact, we have created an extensive network of exchanges with major universities and institutions in European and non-European countries where the foreign languages we teach are spoken: Arabic, Chinese, French, Japanese, English, Spanish, Russian, German. We also have exchanges with centres that speak languages not taught at the university, but where it is possible to attend degree courses taught in English (Estonia, Poland, Lithuania, Norway, Portugal, Brazil, Romania, etc.).

For many of these programmes, scholarships are provided to cover travel and living expenses.

The Erasmus agreements provide for a grant of 250, 300 or 350 euros per month (depending on the cost of living) for European destinations and 500 euros per month for non-European destinations. The ' K107 International Mobility for Credit' programme, for those who choose study stays in non-EU countries, provides a monthly grant of 750 euros. Further grants allocated by the European Union and the Italian Ministry of Public Education (MIUR) and other support measures for students in particularly unstable conditions are also envisaged.

The multi-annual 'Radici' programme, which establishes grants for second cycle degree students enrolled in one of the University of Bergamo's departments to write their dissertation abroad provides amounts of EUR 2,000 for short-term mobility.

International mobility

During the university course, the student can spend a study period of a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 12 months abroad, during which they can carry out part of their curriculum at a foreign university and, once they return, have their exams fully recognised. When leaving, the student receives a grant to partially cover their living expenses. Payment of the grant is always conditional on achieving the minimum number of CFUs required by the course of study.
