The Winter School is aimed at doctoral students and is also open to PhDs and students of advanced and second cycle degree programmes who wish to further their education on the language and culture of the German Early Middle Ages.
The course will consider the written production of Old High German and Old Saxon, with their aims and translation strategies within the cultural temperament of these traditions; digital sources and tools for the study of the early medieval German tradition; the 'Digital Heliand' project; Longobard in its Germanic and Latin facies.
The lectures will be supported by workshops in small groups to consolidate the topics analysed, with a focus on linguistic, philological and interpretative analysis of texts.

The lessons of the 2nd edition of the Summer School in Audiovisual Translation aimed at LMCCI degree course students will take place from Monday 18 July to Saturday 30 July 2022. The languages for which the translation activity is offered are Chinese, Japanese, English, Russian and German.
The programme includes a 12-hour transversal
module of audiovisual translation theory for all participants and 28 hours of translation practice workshop for each of the five languages. The theoretical part will provide participants with the theoretical and methodological tools required to approach the practical activity. The lessons will focus on the evolution of audiovisual translation, current techniques, fields of application and dissemination, the state of the art of research and the reception of translated audiovisual texts with subtitles, dubbing and audio description. The workshops will enable students to familiarise themselves with the main software and to work onprocessing sequences from films, animated features, TV series, short films, documentaries and advertisements.

The programme includes a 20-hour transversal module of translation theory for all participants and 20 hours of practical audiovisual translation workshop for each of the three language pairs (Arabic-Italian, Chinese-Italian, Japanese-Italian).
The theoretical part aims to provide participants with the fundamental notions of audiovisual translation theory. The workshops, on the other hand, will allow students to familiarise themselves with the main software and to work on processing sequences from films, animated features, TV series, short films, documentaries and advertisements.
